SLR Lounge Photography Scholarship
We believe in the importance and power of photography as both a creative art form and a way of documenting history. The SLR Lounge Photography Scholarship was established to inspire and support high school and college students to pursue further development of their photography skills.
One student will be chosen from the applicants based based on the strength of the photography and written essay that they submit.
The selected student will receive 500 USD.
The Scholarship Application:
Write a 300-500 words essay on the following topic:
“The Impact of Photography on My Life as a ____________”
The blank space can be anything that you feel defines you as a person or a photographer. Ideas might be your age group, race, ethnicity, religion, personality type, or any other label or concept you’d like to explore. The essay must include at least 3 images.
The winner will receive $500 USD and his or her article will be published on slrlounge.com.

Who is eligible?
Any high-school or college student enrolled in an accredited institution located within the United States.
When are the deadlines and award dates?
Fall Deadline: Sept. 15
Fall Award Date: Oct. 15
Spring Deadline: March 15
Spring Award Date: April 15
How to Apply
Step 1 – Write your essay in Google Docs or Microsoft Word following the rules outlined above
Step 2 – Email your submission to chris[at]slrlounge.com with the subject: Photography Scholarship Application. In the body of the email, please link your document and include the following information:

Phone Number
Mailing Address
Email Address
Graduation Date
Name of school or college
Profile Picture
Your bio in 250 characters or less
Scholarship Terms and Conditions:
By submitting your essay, you agree to our terms, namely all the right for slrlounge.com to republish all submitted essays, including the photos included in the essays.
We will not provide your contact information to any 3rd party. Your name, school and profile image will be used if you are selected as a prizewinner.
If you do not fill out all the necessary information, you will forfeit your consideration for this scholarship.
As previously mentioned, if you are selected to receive the scholarship, we will contact you through email or phone. If you are selected as the winner of the scholarship, we will contact you for a profile photo to be included with your scholarship on our scholarship page.
